Here at Infoplease, one of our goals is to get you the information you want and need. That includes keeping you up to date on current events that are making news around the world, including the United States.
Magazine articles provide a variety of perspectives and information about a topic or event, including interviews, opinions, narratives, investigative reporting and analysis. They can also include illustrations, photographs, and data. Magazines are generally written for a general audience. Examples of magazines that cover a wide range of topics include The Economist, The New Yorker, and Time. You can find current magazine articles through our EBSCOhost Academic Search Ultimate and CQ Researcher resources.
News sources typically have up-to-date information about a current event and are best used when you need very recent events, lived experiences, facts and descriptions, or need to place an event in historical perspective. Scholarly sources take longer to write and publish, but are good resources for when you need deeper background information, evidence-based research or analysis, or to compare the effects of similar past events on a particular topic. See our article on the Information Cycle to learn more about when you can expect scholarly information related to a current event to be available.
